By replacing the word “by” with “with”, the passage now reads that there are more things needed to heal us than the suffering the Lord endured on the cross. The following are exerts from books that have not been changed by this sinister force prophesied in Daniel 7:25.
A Letter to Rev. Ezra S. Gannett of Boston, Occasioned by His Tract on Atonement 1841
We believe that these passages refer to the incarnation of the Word “ who was in the beginning with God and who was God,” and to the “one sacrifice for sins,” which he would offer. If this event was worthy, as we believe it was, of such deliberate and solemn annunciation, why may it not have reached as far back, when it occurred, as the appointment of God respecting it, reached forward ? If it was great enough to throw a shadow out of eternity four thousand years into coming time, why could it not have thrown back its influence also to the beginning of time? Isaiah, at least, seems to have felt its influence. “ He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.” Is. liji. 5.
Prayers for the Use of Families: Or, The Domestic Minister’s Assistant 1830
And under a deep impression of our guilt, may we seek, alone, from Him who is the hope and the consolation of Israel. Viewing Him as dying for the ungodly, may we believe in His name. May we know that He bore our sins in His body on the tree, and that by His stripes we are healed. And may we find in Him, not only righteousness … but strength. May He impart to us, not only forgiveness of sins, but repentance unto life. May we never separate in our regards what He has joined together in the Scriptures; or suppose that we are justified by His blood, unless we are sanctified by His Spirit. We believe we can never be happy in sin, and we do not desire it : Lord, deliver us from it, and lead us in the way everlasting. Make us holy like thyself, that we may be made happy in thyself. We are naturally disqualified for all communion with a holy God; work in us to will and to do of thy good pleasure ; produce in us those principles and dispositions, which will attach us to thyself as our exceeding joy; and enable us to say, whom have I in heaven but Thee, and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee. Under all our ignorance, weakness, fears, and depressions, ma #. Spirit help our infirmities, with supplies of wisdom, strength, and comfort. May we faithfully study our character, and he always willing to come to the light, that if evil, our deeds may be reproved. May we peculiarly observe ourselves, under the operation of those events which are designed to try us; that we may judge of the reality and degree of our grace. May we often review #, and see how we have at any time been ensnared, or overcome, that we may, in future, become more wise and circumspect. And while we watch, may we also pray, lest we enter into temptation. May we never trust in our own hearts, or depend upon any past experience, or resent resolution; but be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

If the burden of sin be removed, whatever else is laid on us will be felt to be light. And surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. Hence though his sufferings do not secure us from suffering, they change the nature and design of our afflictions; so that, instead of their being punishments, they are corrections; and are inflicted not by the sword of the Judge, but by the rod of a Father. The believer may sometimes misapprehend them, and fearful of their being the messengers of justice, may say unto God, Do not condemn me. . But the apprehension is groundless. We are chastened of the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. For there is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. He has redeemed them from the course of the law, having been made a curse for them. And being now justified by his blood, they shall be saved from wrath through him. This is the rest wherewith we are to cause the uneasy to *s and this is the refreshing. He was angry With us, but his anger is turned away: and he comforts us. And not only so, but we also joy through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
