In 1604, King James announced that fifty-four (54) Hebrew and Greek scholars had been appointed to translate a new Bible from the Received Text (named “Textus Receptus” after the translation was completed) for the people who spoke the English language. The number was reduced to forty-seven (47) by the time the work actually began in 1607. Instead of working together all in one place, these men were divided into six (6) individual teams, which worked at three (3) separate locations. There were two (2) teams at Oxford, two (2) at Westminster, and two (2) at Cambridge. Each team was given a selected portion of Scripture to translate. Each individual scholar made his own translation of a book, and then passed it on to be reviewed by every member of his team. The entire team then went over the book together. Once a team had completed a book of the Bible, they sent it to be reviewed by the other five (5) teams. Any and all questionable and objectionable translation was marked and noted, and then it was returned to the original team for consideration. A special committee was then formed by selecting one (1) leader from each team. This committee ironed out all of the remaining differences and presented a finished copy for the printers in 1611. So then the King James Bible had to pass at least fourteen (14) examinations before going to the printer. Throughout this entire process, any learned scholar of the land could be called upon for their judgment, and the churches were kept informed of the progress.
So then, the King James Bible was a meticulous work that left almost no margin for error in it’s translation from the “ORIGINAL TEXTS FROM ANTIOCH”.
The process in which this KJV Bible had been translated has many times been attacked. Why, because of the source it came from, which is the original autographs. Why people would want to read from a translation, that came from a translation, which came from a translation is beyond me. That’s what the new versions are you know…
And many scholars would have you believe that we aren’t smart enough to understand God’s Word. Yet, for over 400 years, this precious Bible has been the mainstay for the English speaking Christians. The KJV is a Spiritual and Divine book. But most scholars won’t rely on spirituality! They prefer scholarship over spirituality. That’s a terrible way to discern a spiritual book.
Then came the New versions of the English Bible. This was the beginning of the doubt that started to spread over Gods Word.
And these newer versions came from manuscripts that were translations – from translations that were – from translations of translations – of the original texts leading us back to a 3rd century man named Origen at Alexandria Egypt. Origen Adamantius 184 – 253 A.D. A third century heretic who:
- Didn’t believe Jesus is God Almighty……………..
- Didn’t believe the Holy Spirit was eternal…………………
- Didn’t believe believe many of the Saviors words were truth…………….
- He didn’t even believe in the Old Testament Miracles……………….
- I don’t really believe he thought the virgin birth of the Savior was true…………….
Yet he believed that the Apostles were too uneducated to really tell us what the Lord actually was saying.
So he re-translated the original texts from common Greek of Antioch into his own messed up manuscripts, in the polished classic Greek called the Alexandrian Texts.
Then, in the 19th century, two men named Brooke Foss Westcott (1825–1901) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828–1892) took Origens messed up texts and made their own equally messed up manuscript called the Westcott and Hort text. Their text, more than any other, has been the basis for almost all of the new bibles. The NIV, NKJV, HCSB, etc., etc., etc…….
Both Westcott & Hort had some really messed up, and occult ideas that are reflected in their WH Texts. They both believed:
- Our faith is nothing more than a compromise…………………
- That spirits of the dead can be spoken to in this life………………….
- That Jesus wasn’t really God…………………..
- Hell wasn’t for real as the Bible teaches……………….
- Charles Darwin’s theories, and evolution were more plausible than the first 3 chapters of Genesis…………….
- The worship of the Virgin Mary was closer to the truth than Evangelical teachings…………………
- Etc…………..
Enough said. Would you, as a born again Christian use these guy’s as a Godly & Spiritual source of information?
That battle over the Bible versions however is the least of our troubles. Now, Satan has a free hand at tearing down the real scriptures.
Amos 8:11-12 tells us that the time is coming where folks will be looking for the Word of God, and will not find it.
Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
And Daniel 7:25 tells us that Satan will be allowed to change Laws (the Word of God) and Times (history).
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
You can already see the change in the scriptures. In Daniel 7:25 it says “wear out the saints”! It used to say “VEX the saints”! Imagine that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And so it begins. I would hope that you had paid attention to solid Bible teaching and preaching throughout your life. If not, make a friend of someone who has. The time is growing short! My Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon to get His church. Are you ready for that?
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (KJV)
Hello I just came across this and I am a saved Christian. I read my bible as often as I can but I read the NKJ mostly as that is what our church uses. I have used NIV and others as well. Should I rely on my prayer and the Holy Spirit to discern this scripture for me and why do not others know this? I think this is very interesting
Laura, yes, rely on the Holy Spirit in all things. At this point in time, we have men and women like myself who have entrusted the word hidden in our hearts. At least we have that. You may also want to go and look at https://kjvrestore.org and see what’s there in our restoration project.
Oh, and I’m sorry it took so long to answer your comment. I’ve been battling with COVID.
in the original King James 1611, Daniel 7:25 says weare out the saints, not vex. Where are you getting that from? I am having trouble finding verification of your examples of change.
Here is the link to the scanned books in the Google archive. You can take a look at them if you wish. its at https://www.google.com/search?q=%22and+vex+the+saints%22&tbm=bks&tbas=0&source=lnt&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi0yfS—_4AhWxkWoFHUbtDH8QpwV6BAgCECE&biw=1920&bih=955&dpr=1
I haven’t gotten into full swing of research for this verse yet. So many others are before it.
